Change a member's role

How owners and admins change what somebody can do in e.Vernetzt: pick a new role, set a child account’s parent, adjust their groups, and who cannot be edited.

A role decides what somebody sees and what they can post. When a person takes on a job in the club — or stops doing it — this is the one place you change it.

Available to owners and admins.

Change it

  1. Open the club from the navigation drawer.
  2. In the Manage members section, tap See all.
  3. Find the person. Search filters as you type, and the chip row filters by role or down to pending requests.
  4. Tap their row.
  5. Pick the new role.
  6. If you chose child member, pick the parent — a child account must be linked to another member of the club, and Save stays disabled until you have chosen one.
  7. Adjust their groups with the chips if the new role changes which teams they belong to.
  8. Tap Save.

You can also reach a specific member directly by tapping their avatar in the Manage members row on the club home screen.

The six roles

Role What it is for
Owner Runs the club. Cannot be edited by anybody, including another owner.
Admin The same permissions as an owner in practice.
Staff Helps out: can post information and practice entries.
Trainer Coaches groups, logs their own earnings, posts training entries.
Member The default. Posts practice entries, joins public groups.
Child member Reads and belongs to groups. Cannot post. Needs a parent.

Who you cannot edit

Two guards, and they are deliberate:

  • You cannot edit yourself. Not your role, your status or your groups.
  • You cannot edit an owner. In practice an owner’s role cannot be changed through this screen by anyone, including themselves, because there is no ownership-transfer flow.

Both cases disable the whole form rather than just the Save button, so it is clear before you start typing.

Ending a membership

There are two different things here and they are not interchangeable:

  • Setting the status to rejected leaves the membership record in place. They lose access, but they also cannot re-apply.
  • Remove from Club deletes the membership. It clears their trainer assignments and any message addressed to them; posts they wrote stay, because the club’s history is a shared record. They get told, and their session ends straight away — the next thing their app does is send them back to the sign-in screen. It signs them out of the app entirely, not just out of your club.

Remove is only offered where it is actually allowed: you must be an owner or admin, and the target can be neither the club’s owner nor you.

After you save

Your own screen updates at once. Theirs may not. A member’s role and groups travel inside their sign-in token, so their phone keeps the old copy until it fetches a new one. They can pull to refresh on the club home screen, or tap Sync account. Nothing is broken — it has just not caught up.
